Thailand is home to the world’s tiniest mammal, the bumblebee bat, as well as the world’s largest fish, the whale shark. The Songkran Festival is the largest water fight event in the world, and Thailand is home to more than  35,000 temples in and visiting them requires modest clothing

The title of “Land of the Free” given upon Thailand is one thing in which the Thai people take pride in. It is noted in Thailand’s national song that the country managed to remain autonomous even while Western powers were carving apart Southeast Asia and other regions across the world.

Thailand used to be known as Siam until 1939, and then changed to Thailand. Siamese cats, like those in Lady and the Tramp, originated in Thailand. 

Thailand’s economy took a hit when the pandemic brought international travel to a halt. The people are known for their hospitality, friendliness, and smiles.

Thailand has the lese majeste rule, meaning that if you commit disrespectful acts towards the King, you could be imprisoned for treason. Noodles were introduced to Thailand during World War II as an alternative to rice, and chopsticks are only used for Chinese dishes.

The Burma-Siam railway, which the bridge is a part of, cost 80,000 lives to build. The Monkey Buffet is hosted every year in front of the Pra Prang Sam Yot temple in the province of Lopburi, as a way to express gratitude to the monkeys for bringing people to the community to see the monkeys. It includes two tons of meat, fruit, ice cream, and other goodies.

For a period, all young males in Thailand had to devote themselves to Buddhism. Thailand receives around 6,000,000 visitors yearly, and Bangkok has a yearly flood of 11,000,000 non-resident tourists.
